Full Bodycare Routine AKA The Everything Shower

My full name is Mulenga Chola middle name EXTRA because that’s what I am and I’m about to put you on.

Bodycare is very important to me, I love physical touch. I love the feel of my hands across my body because that’s self love too and overtime I have built a routine that has my body feeling smoother than butter.

It’s time to put you on.

  • Weekly Everything showers

I believe everything should be done in moderation. I usually do this mid week or at the end of the week. It takes me an average of 45mins – 1 Hour and I try do one at least once a week otherwise over doing it could potentially ruin your skin. Lesson one, one everything shower a week.

  • Korean Body Scrubbing Technique

Technically it’s called ”Seshin” an intense cleansing process done in South Korea usually using a type pf loofah.

a colorful, thin loofah with a sandpaper-like texture – to rid the body of all the gunk, dirt and layers of dead skin that accumulate naturally.

What I simply do is run a warm to hot bath and sit in it for about 15-20 mins …imma keep it real…I am an iPad kid, yes at 26 we exist. I usually have my show running whilst I soak my body (I am currently rewatching Wizards of Waverley Place) otherwise I would be bored. Once that is done, I get my Korean exfoliants I get from amazon and scrub my body for a few minutes. Beware you’ll see loads of grey stuff coming off your skin. That’s a mixture of dirt & dead skin.

It might hurt a little if you don’t do this regularly but overtime your body gets used to it. You can get a professional seshin but it’s uncommon to get that done especially in the UK or any western country as we don’t have many bathhouses but it’s very normal in East Asian countries especially South Korea.

  • Regular Shower

Yeah nah, we are not done. You’ve had the bath, now it’s time for a shower my friend. You wanted to have the butter body init? Exactly. Once you’ve had your somewhat intense body scrub. You can now have your regular shower with your regular shower gel and for woman I recommend a separate wash for intimate areas that doesn’t mess with your PH levels. I personally use ”Canesfresh Feminine Soothing Wash Gel” and have been for years, you can get it from your local drug store or amazon.

  • Scrub your feet.

Grab a pumice rock for feet or foot scrubber and scrub the bottom of your feet. As much as I take pride in having pretty feet and taking care of them, I’ll admit this is my least favourite part of the everything shower, but it has to be done. It doesn’t make sense to have a lovely smooth body but have the bottom feet of a goblin. Scrub your feet.

Bodycare

This is my favourite part.

After everything you’ll need baby oil/ body oil and your favourite body moisturiser, mix it and slather it all over your body and look at your body in the mirror. Take time to moisturise your legs, back, your butt, your thighs etc really love on your body. This too is self care

Stand in front of the mirror naked and appreciate the body you have. As I always say, the longest relationship you’ll ever have in life is the one with yourself, so you best get to appreciate the body you’re in and look at you all soft after your bath & shower. 

I love doing this weekly because it allows me to slow down, feel and notice my body and myself. It’s always best to find what works well for you, this is simply a guide that you can either build on or switch around. You may want to include a hair routine in this too, as I am a black woman, my hair is usually in a protective style and my hair days have their own day.
