What is double cleansing? According to elle.com
”Double cleansing involves using a cleansing oil, balm or micellar water to break down make-up, SPF and sebum on the surface of your skin first, then following it with a deeper water-based cleanser.”
Double cleansing is part of the Korean skincare routine and is very important as it’s the most thorough process of removing dirt from your skin. As the day and night goes by, the skin produces a lot of sebum (oily secretion) which is completely normal for eveyone, the only difference is some people may produce more oils than others.
As someone who has oily/combination skin, wears SPF and wears makeup every now and then, double cleansing is a must. Ever since I discovered what double cleansing is, I never looked back (because honestly the make-up wipes just weren’t enough for me). I was never really consistent with double cleansing but as time went by and I incooperated it into my routine and it’s become a 6th sense to double cleanse twice a day. In the end it’s all about consistency.
Anyone with any skin type should double cleanse morning and night as it’s very vital for your skin because it leaves you feeling fresh and preps you for your routine. It’s not so easy getting used to double cleansing every single day but my advice would be to start in the evenings, at least every single night or after removing make up, add double cleansing to your routine and you’ll see just how clean and brand-new your skin will feel after. The best thing to do is find the right double cleansing products for your skin type as it will be best suited for you.
